Abstract

The article is devoted to the written speech of sports discourse producers. The general and particular communicative and pragmatic features of sports discourse written genres are described: the mental basis, presupposition, non-isolation in general discourse space, prospectivity, retrospectivity, linearity, and author’s modality. The ways of preserving these features in the translation of a sports article and a review are indicated. It is concluded that for the successful preservation of communicative and pragmatic features in translated texts, the translator should take into consideration the differences in cultural and linguistic worldviews of the producer and the recipient of the text.
