Abstract

This study introduces a Korean Medicine (KM) case using the Practice-Based Research Network (PBRN). We reviewed the registry of herbal decoction for weight loss using the PBRN, as well as the process of building the registry, challenges faced, and achievements. The registry building process using the PBRN included the following: introduction of research outlines to core members; consultation on how to increase its feasibility in KM clinics; surveys on the interest towards the topic among KM doctors (KMDs); development and dissemination of card news on the research; appointment of PBRN members; and education. The major challenge was to increase participation among KMDs. It is important to appoint core members who have networks and experience with clinical research as PBRN members. Consulting with core members on how to increase the feasibility of PBRN in KM clinics could increase the participation rate among KMDs.
