Abstract

SummaryPurpose – analysis and generalization of the experience of surgical and therapeuticcare, rehabilitation, health resort treatment of wounded, injured, traumatized, and sickservicemen in different periods of the anti-terrorist operation and the Joint Forcesoperation (ATO/JFO) in the East of Ukraine.Materials and methods. We used the regulatory legal acts on state defense,guidance, information and reference documents as well as reports and statisticalmedical reports on medical support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during theATO/JFO. Research methods: historical, bibliographic, systematic approach, statistical,analytical, generalization. The object of study is the medical support system of theArmed Forces of Ukraine. Subject – organization and state of medical support of theArmed Forces of Ukraine during ATO/JFO.Results. In the second message, experience of medical assistance of troops duringcombat operations in the ATO/JFO was analyzed. All results of this study will bepresented in the monograph “Medical support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine duringthe anti-terrorist operation and the operation of the combined forces on the territory ofthe Lugansk and Donetsk regions”. The system of medical and evacuation measures(MEM), organization and procedure of providing surgical and therapeutic medicalcare, medical rehabilitation and health resort treatment of wounded, injured,traumatized, and sick servicemen are reviewed in detail. The procedure and scope ofmedical evacuation, the role of field hospitals in the MEM system, the scope of militarymedical clinical centers and inpatient clinics of military hospitals, the procedure andcontent of sanitary and anti-epidemic measures as well as medical supplies aredescribed in separate sections of the monograph. Moreover, the role and significance ofmilitary medical education and science for the development and increase of efficiency ofthe medical support system of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the conditions of ATO /JFO are also revealed Conclusions. The performed analysis can serve as a basis for finding, forming andstep-by-step implementation of directions, ways and concrete measures of furtherdevelopment and transformation of the Medical Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukrainein the direction of achieving the requirements and standards of medical care of NATOmember states. The study requires the continuation with conducting broader and moredetailed analysis of all its elements during the actual hostilities using all official,including archival documents on medical care of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
