Abstract

One of the most important tasks in teaching mathematics in secondary schools is to increase the cognitive activity of students. The role of mathematics textbooks and auxiliary educational materials is high in this issue. Textbooks should arouse the student's curiosity and influence the increase of cognitive activity. To do this, the textbook must contain texts, examples and problems related to the student's living environment. Educational materials should be designed in such a way as to interest the student. In the presence of these circumstances, conditions are created to increase the cognitive activity of the student, the formation of his creative abilities, the development of logical thinking. The article provides an interpretation of the meaning of the concept of "cognitive activity of a student" and examines the role of textbooks in the formation of this concept. The content of mathematics textbooks taught in schools in Kyrgyzstan has been analyzed and their potential in increasing the cognitive activity of students has been studied.
