Abstract

The reasons for reduction of industrial sphere in European countries and in the USA during last decades considerably differ from those in Russia during post-soviet period. The main reasons of Russian deindustrialization lie in the export-raw orientation of economic development. Further existence in such an economic development model leads to the conservation of economic depression and poses threat to national security. The paper depicts one of the two alternative approaches to the change of Russian economic development strategy, based on reindustrialization within structural transformation and diversification of economy. Such complicated structural transformation may be possible in case of competent industrial policy implementation. Basing on western and Russian expert estimates, we study the reasons and possibilities of western and Russian reindustrialization and prove the new high-technological innovative industrialization — as a necessary condition for sustainable economic growth.
