Abstract

In order to improve Japanese communication skills, education on onomatopoeia and mimetic word needs to be sufficiently provided, and further research and understanding of the characteristics of using onomatopoeia and mimetic word in Japanese is needed. In this paper, to further improve the Japanese communication skills of Korean learners, we analyzed the examples of works and suggested ways to educate onomatopoeia and mimetic word. In this study, the cartoon “One􋹲piece” was analyzed to find out the actual usage of onomatopoeia and mimetic word. The analysis found that both onomatopoeia and mimetic word had the most simple forms, followed by more ABAB􋹲type vocabulary, and that onomatopoeia accounted for 93.3% of the total and 94.7% of the total. In terms of the meaning of the inborn language, 85.4% of the total vocabulary representing behavior was confirmed. Based on the analysis results of this study and the results of the preceding study, a method was proposed to educate onomatopoeia and onomatopoeia in Japanese more effectively. First, it is necessary to increase the number of vocabulary. Second, it is effective to increase the vocabulary of onomatopoeia compared to mimetic word. Third, when providing vocabulary, it is effective to provide vocabulary centered on simple form, 2 to 4 syllables. Fourth, it is effective to present vocabulary that semantically represents behavior. Fifth, it is effective to use data for effective education. Cartoons can be a good tool.
