Abstract

Rossini was the opera composer who lived between Classical Period and Romantic Period. He was living in the age which singers improvising the songs by themselves, but he powerfully limited them to change composers’ original compositions. Also because of his preference of mezzo-soprano therefore he wrote lots of famous songs for them which remain famous in the world. He had also contributed a lot for developing the Italian overture. Many composers after him were deeply involved by him, such as: Donizetti, Bellini, and Verdi. Rossini’s great operas are over the amount of 40. The very famous ones are like “Il Barbiere di Siviglia”, “Cenerentola”, “Semiramide”, “Guillaume Tell”…etc. They are all keep on being played in every side of the world. I chose the early successful opera buffa of Rossini ,“L’Italiana in Algeri” as for my subject of researching. The first chapter is about the range and the structure. The second chapter is about Italian opera’s history and development. The third chapter is about Rossini’s life and the style of composing. The forth chapter is about script writer’s life and the background of opera. The fifth chapter is about the analysis of music and the interpretation of characters. At last, with the concluding remarks combined all the researching of studies.
