Abstract

This study highlights that the participation by the college students in leisure activities is a significant element that affects and improves depression and interpersonal relationships, and was carried out so as to utilize it as the basic materials that enable in-depth understanding. It was concluded: First, a group of college students who participated in leisure activities and a group of those who did not were compared, and it was found that the level of depression of the former group is lower than that of the latter. The participation in leisure activities was found to have an impact on the students to improve and overcome depression. Second, the lack of social skills, one of the elements in interpersonal relationships, was higher in those students who did not take part in leisure activities. They were also found to have higher interpersonal hypersensitivity than those who were engaged in leisure activities. It was found that leisure activities have positive effects on social skills and interpersonal relationships of college students.
