Abstract

The article analyzes the results of a study of the influence of perfectionism on the emotional burnout of teachers of basic general education. Attention is drawn to the fact that, despite the reforms and modernization in the system of Russian education, the position of the teacher of basic general education remains difficult. In such a situation, it seems necessary to study and identify various factors contributing to the mental fatigue of teachers. The object of the research is perfectionism as a multidimensional construct with a complex structure which includs high personal standards, cognitive and interpersonal parameters. The subject of the research is perfectionism and emotional burnout among teachers of basic general education. The purpose of the work is to study and identify the impact of perfectionism on the emotional burnout of teachers of basic general education. The research hypothesis is high demands directed at oneself and others, comparing oneself with other more successful people, affect the occurrence of symptoms of emotional burnout in teachers. The study involved 120 teachers. We used the techniques of “Questionnaire of emotional burnout” by V. V. Boyko and “Multi-profile scale of perfectionism” MPS-F (R. Frost), methods of mathematical statistics t-Student's test, One-way ANOVA. It was found that teachers had symptoms of emotional burnout, a significantly higher level of perfectionism. The influence of all scales of perfectionism on the phases and symptoms of emotional burnout was revealed. Excessively high personal standards set by teachers affect the triggering of the mechanisms for the formation of emotional burnout, and dissatisfaction with oneself and the profession increases.
