Abstract

Modern social and demographic and social and economic processes are characterized by the dynamic development of the neighboring countries of North-East Asia. At the same time, the territories of the Russian-Chinese border, being a zone of contact in spatial integration, have a number of specific features. For Primorye, Khabarovsk Territory, Amur Oblast, Transbaikalia, as well as for other Far Eastern regions, some of not entirely favorable social trends are currently significant, associated with the deterioration of various aspects of people’s daily lives, including the poor state of social infrastructure, the presence of great difficulties in the labor sphere and employment, a decrease in incomes of the population, etc. In this context, the study analyses the attitude of the residents of the Far Eastern border towards migrants and migration problems. The main research method is content analysis of news feeds and their discussion on the Far Eastern Internet portals. In general, the population of the Far East is waiting for actions of not attracting migrants to the region, but ones of contributing to their own security and the creation of favorable living conditions for indigenous Far Easterners. It is important to consider this in the system of determinants that condition the social well-being of residents of these territories.
