Abstract

The article provides a brief analysis of the state of general music education in the general secondary education institutions of Ukraine in connection with the formation of a new socio-cultural environment in the world and the strengthening of the integration aspiration of the Ukrainian educational system into the European cultural space. The features of various dimensions of modern music education and the promotion of their development by the International Society of Music Education (ISME) are noted. An analysis was made of the organization of musical activities of modern schoolchildren in the conditions of the information society and globalization. The need to modernize general music education in Ukraine and to solve a number of problems and contradictions that have arisen in this field is emphasized. The importance of increasing the weekly hours for teaching musical art in Ukrainian secondary schools is emphasized, based on the experience of developed countries in Europe and the world.
