Abstract

The article analyses poetics of the symbol “witch’s hair” in Yu. V. Buida’s story of the same name. The research objective is to study semantics of proper names, symbols and artistic details in the context of cultural tradition and the author’s worldview and to identify cases of contamination with the central symbol “witch’s hair”. Scientific originality of the paper involves revealing a symbol two-component structure, which promotes formation of the basic ideological antithesis “everyday life and existence”. The findings allow concluding that the leitmotif symbol “witch’s hair” arranges the story deepening its axiological problematics, contributing to the central idea about importance of preserving spiritual heritage in the modern world.
