It is established that the provision of pupils of all classes (from elementary to high school) by means of studying in China is much better than in Ukraine. Each government Chinese school has textbooks on musical education and musical instruments in sufficient quantities, while there are no textbooks or musical instruments in Ukrainian schools. The content of the training is also different, firstly, it is much broader (involves compulsory learning of playing musical instruments, choral singing and solfeggio); secondly, the peculiarity of the content of musical education in the People's Republic of China is the study of musical literacy. A comparative analysis of the basis of musical literacy in Chinese and Ukrainian schools was conducted. A variety of ways of recording musical works is outlined and the specifics of the digital notation used by the People's Republic of China are described.
