Abstract

Recently, attention on peace is increasing. However, it is still difficult to say that the reality is peaceful. Peace education is a representative movement for realizing peace that has been continuously mentioned among people in our daily lives. This study aims to explore the meaning of peace education through the literature and experiences of activists and to see how peace education is performed in the field. Therefore, we discussed the following research problems : ‘how did peace education been defined academically?’, And ‘how do peace education activists internalize peace education and practice in practice?’ The results of the study are as follows. Academically defined peace education can be summarized as a process of practicing various concepts of peace. And Peace education activists defined through the experiences of activists was expressed around individual parts and relationships. Activists were also uncomfortable in defining peace education as a concept. And trying to find a peaceful situation in their daily lives.
