Abstract

The purpose of this study was to construct and implement a program utilizing in group counseling for gifted students in the elementary school and assess and validate its effect on their career maturity. Main objectives are as follows : developing an effective way to construct the program for gifted students in the elementary school to participate in group counseling; validating its effect on the career maturity.
 This program is based on Counseling Program Development Model by Park In-woo(1995). The program consist of twelve sessions including career maturity improvement activities.
 Twenty-four students were randomly assigned into an experimental group and a control group consisting of twelve students each. The test tool was ‘Holland Career Development Inventory’ of An Chang-gyu(2003). For data processing, ‘Mixed ANOVA’ from SPSS/Window 10 was used to analyze statistical results.
 The results showed that the scores of career maturity were increased significantly in the experimental group comparing with the control group. The implication of this research is that it provided a new group counseling program which is suitable for the career characteristics of gifted elementary school students, and that it offered the basic information for their career guidance.
