Abstract
This article presents a bronze statuette of a sea-panther (pardalocampus) with a rider, from the yoke of a chariot, found in the burial mound Iztochnata mogila near the village of Karanovo, the district of Nova Zagora, Bulgaria. According to the theory presented here, the panther and the sea-mammal as elements of the pardalocampus, combined with the rider, are associated with Dionysus and the journey to the afterlife.
