Abstract

The paper aims to describe the numeral system of the Khakass literary language and to examine dialectal variations of the numerals. The numerals of the Khakass dialects have certain phonetic and morphological peculiarities. The researcher’s attention is focused on analysing the Sagai numeral forms regarded as non-literary but widely used in the Khakass language bearers’ oral and written speech. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the author considers the problem of interrelation of regional and literary variants of the Khakass language at the modern stage of its development. The research findings are as follows: the author proposes scientifically grounded recommendations on introducing the Sagai numeral forms into the Khakass literary language.
