Abstract
The article analyzes the role of the scientist in modern society, since their scientific knowledge about nature and the Earth ac-quires special significance. The author empha-sizes the essence of public science communi-cation and the complexities associated with the representation of scientific knowledge about the Earth in public, cultural and politi-cal space. He suggests a list of the main con-texts arising in the process of such communi-cation and reveals two main issues that have influenced their formation, which are histori-cal and epistemological perspectives. In the face of contemporary challenges such as cli-mate change, environmental crises and social and cultural changes, scientists are challenged to actively engage with society and combine the roles of researchers and public communi-cators. This task also requires a specific theo-retical analysis on behalf of philosophy. The paper discusses these problems and offers a philosophical perspective on the strategies of public science communication realization in the context of Earth sciences, including the ideas of French Sociologist B. Latour.
