Abstract
The article focuses upon advantages of authentic video materials applied within the frame of university education with the aim of forming foreign world image metaphorical constituent via the implementation of a set of exercises based on the principles of critical thinking development in the multilingual classroom environment. The authors are bringing together the cognitive, linguo-cultural and socially-oriented approaches in the language classroom and activate all the aspects mentioned through a number of innovative technologies and educational methods. The undertaken research approach is realized through the activities determined by the basic principles of analysis, comparison, generalization employed in finding common cognitive features in several common linguistic world picture interpretations (typical of different language communities).
