Abstract

Objectives This study is a study on local residents who participated in the Living Lab for solving local problems. The purpose of this study is to examine the experiences of the local residents who participated and to understand the essence of the experiences in depth.
 Methods As a qualitative case study, the subject of this study conducted in-depth interviews with 8 local residents who expressed their intention to participate in the life experiment. It was analyzed through the phenomenological method of Amedeo Giorgi.
 Results From this, 6 essential themes and 15 revealed themes were derived. The six essential themes are ‘Courageous choice to take on a challenge’, ‘Into the unknown world of living lab’, ‘Discovery of living lab through education’, ‘Incorporating left-handed living lab’, ‘new alternative obtained in the field’, ‘Value creation through purposeful challenges’.
 Conclusions In this study, by understanding the experiences of local residents who voluntarily participated in solving local problems in the Living Lab method, which is a life experiment, the basic data of the living lab operation given by the bottom-up participation of local residents in the field could be used as.
