Abstract
<p>In the article the author justifies the pedagogical significance of the formation of civil identity by means of school geographic education in the conditions of globalization. The subject of the article is the content of school geographic education; the purpose of the article is to reveal the content possibilities of Geography for the formation of Russian civic identity. The author applies theoretical research methods: analysis, synthesis, generalization, isolation of interrelations. The main scientific results are: identification of educational indicators of civic identity, as well as the identification of key content lines of school geographic education associated with the formation of civic identity in students. The given research results can be applied in lesson and after-hour planning activity at a secondary school. The article defines the role of Geography in the process of civil identity formation in students, as well as highlighting the most significant content lines based on approximate basic educational geography program related to the formation of civil identity (issues: geopolitics, globalization, natural and cultural heritage, ecology, features of economic development of Russia).<strong></strong></p>
