Abstract

It has been long ago that the term of OSMU(One Source Multi Use) is universalized throughout the cultural industry. The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and Marvel movies are representative examples. In the situation in which the attempt to seek classics to develop cultural contents has continued, the thing that the classic researcher should do is to continue the interpretation and analysis of classic to this end. 《Digong case》 is the feature Gong'an novel in the end of 19th century with the main character of Di Ren Jie, an able premier at that time, and known by the translation of Robert Hans Van Gulik, Dutch diplomat and scholar, and his creation work based on this has made people recognize Di Ren Jie as Chinese Sherlock HolmesThe purpose of this study is to review the aspect of how 《Digong case》 and the novel created by Van Gulik have been transformed to contemporary cultural contents. As the cultural contents with the theme of 《Digong case》 exist throughout various fields, the targets focused in this study are restricted to video media such as film and drama. The video contents related with 《Digong case》 can be roughly classified into drama, theater movie and web movie. The things that are commonly revealed in all the works are that the character Di Ren Jie plays the role of a detective rather than a judge. This can be said it is more influenced by 《Celebrated Cases of Judge Dee》 created by Van Gulik rather than 《Digong case》 in Qing period. It can be characterized that the production frequency of theater movie and web movie has changed since 2018. After Schieker's theatrical version of Di Ren Jie series is finished, a lot more fantasy elements are added in subsequent web films and several films are tend to be produced a year.
