Abstract

The aim of the paper is to give a linguostylistic analysis of marine professional vocabulary in the collection of short stories and novellas “Gandvik - the icy sea” (1977). The author applied a descriptive method, consisting in the classification, linguistic generalization, systematization and description of the material as part of the fishermen and sailors’ professional vocabulary in the Arkhangelsk North. As a result of the research, the semantic space of the fishermen and sailors’ professional vocabulary in the works of B. V. Shergin was analyzed. The paper also presents a lexicographic and etymological description of the words under consideration, as well as their classification according to various parameters. The results of the research contribute to the study of professional vocabulary in a literary text and B. V. Shergin’s creative heritage. The practical significance of the work consists in the possibility of teaching lexicology, dialectology and local literature studies.
