Abstract

The article focuses on the use of problem solving learning technique in teaching English. The authors analyze the contribution of teachers and psychologists to the development of this technology. A special attention is paid to the usage of various methods of problem solving educational technology at classes of the English language. The authors make an attempt to prove the significance of the positive impact of the problem solving educational technology on the learning process, in particular on fostering the activity the learners, on increasing students’ motivation, which, of course, leads to the increase in learning efficiency. Problem solving learning is aimed at realization of the students’ personal capacity; it involves the purposeful development of the student’s creative abilities and also contributes to the improvement of the foreign language communicative and intercultural competence of the students. The conducted research, the study and analysis of the works on the topic of the article, authors’ personal experience in using the methods of problem solving educational technology allow the authors to come to the conclusion that the use of the technology of problem solving learning of foreign languages can help to create an atmosphere in which the student feels unrestricted and comfortable, it stimulates their interests and develops the desire for practical application of foreign language.
