Abstract

The necesserity of study a foreign language is determined by the trend of internationalization of education, international academic mobility, as well as formation of a comprehension that a modern educated person is not only a person who knows a foreign language but also a person who is prepared for real life in a foreign language environment, who focuses on the complex linguistic and other problems of modern material and spiritual culture. The provision that the using of certain psychological, pedagogical methods of effective search, the interpretation of information facilitates to the acquisition of a foreign language became an axiomatic in didactics. This situation has caused a lot of different approaches to learning a foreign language. The article highlights the relevance of the implementation of the communicative-cognitive approach in teaching English and reveals the principles of teaching a foreign language, the observance of which will enable to ensure a high level of educational tasks efficiency and helps students to develop all kinds of oral skills. The purpose of the article is to describe and analyze the peculiarities of using the communicative method in teaching English in higher education institutions of Ukraine. The necessity of using the communicative-cognitive approach to teaching students a foreign language is conditioned by modern requirements for the organization of the educational process, in accordance with the psychological characteristic and cognitive interests of students, development of an adequate concept about the system of the studied language and the ability to communicate in the foreign environment.
