Abstract

The article is devoted to identifying the features of the verbal and nonverbal behaviour of TV debates communicants-participants at the stage of discussion. The examples of using the strategies and tactics, the most typical of the British parliamentary discourse speech, are analysed. The nonverbal components of communication are considered in the aspect of multimodal interaction. Video analysis is used as a research method. The study examines what ways the interactants use communicating with each other, with the audience, as well as with the presenter in order to attract attention and influence the recipients. The most frequently used means of verbal and nonverbal communication for this purpose are revealed.
