Abstract

The research was conducted at the intersection of such subject fields as sociology of youth, sociology of education and sociology of communication. The paper analyzes a new generation of young peo-ple born at the very turn of the century and socializ-ing in the context of digitalization and mediatization of a society where significant socio-economic and sociocultural changes took place, in particular, man-ifested in the growing tendency of a contradictory attitude towards higher education. The main aim of the research is to identify the most prominent sub-jects of communicative impact on development of educational strategies of modern young people in Russia in the period when they complete their high school education, as well as bachelor’s or master’s degree programs. As a result of an empirical research there are identified main communicative sources that influence educational strategies both during an extended period of their development and at a final stage of constructing such strategies for a short term. The study also defines a diverse role of parents in the development and choice of educa-tional strategies of modern Russian young people at the end of a consecutive stage of their education. The data obtained concretize a socio-communicative portrait of the new generation of Russian youth in the conditions of digitalization and mediatization of the society, the growth of uncer-tainty and risk.
