Abstract
The article investigates the structures of cognitive categories in the consciousness of Ukrainian, Belarusian, Bulgarian, Polish, and Russian speakers via the data of the associative experiments. The psychologically relevant prototypical centres of the categories BIRD and TREE in the minds of bearers of those languages were revealed.
