Abstract
Background Sea water from the South China Sea is used for reservoir repressuring during oil and gas recovery at the shelf field in the south of Vietnam. Downhole equipment and pipelines are usually made of low-alloy and carbon steels, and their corrosion resistance is not high enough. Therefore, the problems of internal corrosion in the oil gathering / treatment systems are actual. Aims and Objectives Prevention of internal corrosion in oil gathering and treatment systems. Methods Monitoring of downhole equipment, laboratory tests. Results It is stated that the safe operation period of tubing in the wells with high well stream watering at White Tiger and Dragon fields does not depend much on the operation conditions (production rate, watering, gas factor), and is mainly determined by the number of acidizing treatments and repairs, which involve killing of the well with sea water. Conclusion Well treatment technique developed by the authors served the basis for a complex of measures aimed at prevention of internal corrosion in Vietsovpetro JV's oil gathering and treatment systems.
