Abstract

The purpose of the study is to provide theoretical substantiation of the potential of sports schools of martial arts for forming personal value orientations in younger schoolchildren in the setting of a mixed-age group. The article sheds light on the matters of the student body’s turnover as a factor in formation of a mixed-age group in sports associations; presents age and motivational characteristics, taking into account which, it is possible to minimise the problem of the student body’s “outflow”, thereby influencing overall results of personal value orientations formation; characterises a younger schoolchild participating in educational process of a sports school; describes means and methods of forming personal value orientations in younger schoolchildren in a sports association of martial arts. Scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that, having analysed the problem of the student body’s turnover in sports schools, the author has proposed solutions that contribute to minimising children’s “outflow” from sports associations of martial arts, made a selection of effective means and methods of forming personal value orientations in younger schoolchildren in the setting of a mixed-age group in a sports school from the practice of sports martial arts. As a result of the study, the author has determined relationship between mixed-age groups formation in associations of martial arts and the problem of the student body’s turnover; on the basis of an analysis of age characteristics, found solutions that contribute to minimising the issue that negatively affects educational activities integrity; identified means and methods of forming personal value orientations in younger schoolchildren in the setting of a mixed-age group that are peculiar to sports martial arts.
