Abstract

One of the most important directions of updating and optimizing the content of education is the introduction of a competency approach, the purpose of which is to ensure the quality of education, compliance with modern conditions and requirements for the level of training of specialists. The competence paradigm of education involves the formation of an individual's ability to independently select and use already accumulated knowledge in various situations and spheres of life. The article defines the general educational guidelines of the New Ukrainian School based on the competence approach. The author notes that the current stage of development of Ukrainian school education is characterized as a period of educational innovations within the framework of the New Ukrainian School reform. This is a long-term reform, which is accompanied by significant changes in all components of education. The leading idea of the New Ukrainian School is the introduction of a competency-based approach to education and the implementation of key competencies approved by the Law of Ukraine "On Education", the State Standard of Primary and Basic Secondary Education. This also applies to the educational branch of "Physical Culture". Therefore, the features of reforming the system of physical education in general secondary education institutions are determined. The development of new physical education is impossible without the implementation of a competent approach to teaching students in physical education classes. The state has high expectations for the system of physical education of the New Ukrainian School, which at the conceptual, content, instrumental and managerial levels should be aimed at forming key competencies and cross-cutting skills. Competency-based approach to teaching pupils in physical education lessons should be considered as a systematic work of the teacher aimed at developing key competencies in students, which in their unity allow students to effectively solve problems in the field of preservation, maintenance and restoration of human health. The Russian-Ukrainian war has changed physical education in Ukrainian schools. The role of physical culture in the formation of readiness to fulfill the civic and constitutional duty to defend the national interests and independence of the state is strengthening. There is a change of emphasis on promoting the growth of physical fitness, physical development and health of schoolchildren. Since the beginning of the war, the state has initiated changes to all existing curricula in the Armed Forces. They are aimed at strengthening the preparation of the younger generation to defend the state and counteract aggression.
