Abstract

Background Active hydrocarbon reserves around the world are slowly being depleted. Quite a large proportion of the residual, hard-to-recover hydrocarbon reserves is contained in carbonate reservoirs (about 60 %). It is known that the oil recovery rate from carbonate reservoirs is by 0.1 part.unit less than that from the terrigenous reservoirs. In Russia and Kazakhstan, there are many deposits of hydrocarbons in carbonate reservoirs, and, as a rule, they have a complex geological structure. Such reserves are attributed to hardly recoverable. Development of such oil and gas reserves will maintain the level of hydrocarbon production for a long time. One of the elements of more rational development is the stimulation of production and injection wells. For this purpose the use of various modifications of hydrochloric acid treatment of carbonate reservoirs is common practice. Increasing the efficiency of hydrochloric acid retreatment is the task of priority. Aims and Objectives To increase the efficiency of the carbonate reservoir treatment technology using acid «retarder», with acid treatment design on the basis of mathematical modeling. Methods Mathematical modeling of hydrochloric acid treatment using a «retarder», and analysis of geological and technical information on the results of applying the technology with «retarded» acid based on modeling. Results Design of carbonate reservoir treatment with a «retarded» acid and proper fulfillment of works allowed significant increase in the treatment effectiveness. Conclusion The use of hydrochloric acid «retarder» to increase the effectiveness of acid retreatments of the carbonate reservoirs is possible in various geological and technical conditions. Treatment must be designed for each specific «well - formation» system.
