Використання асфальтобетонних сумішей на основі спіненого бітуму

Abstract

Introduction. A chronological analysis of using the technology for the preparation of asphalt mixtures based on foamed bitumen abroad was given. The advantages of using this technology were determined. Problem statement. Asphalt mixtures made using foamed bitumen are widely used in particular in countries such as the United Kingdom, the USA, the Netherlands, Australia, where standards for the use of foamed bitumen during the process of asphalt mixtures production are already adopted, because their using, due to special technology, allows to reduce an amount of energy required for the production of the mixture and to improve the quality and durability of the road pavement. The rising cost of energy resources and the necessity to increase the technical and operational indicators of roads require the road industry in Ukraine to constantly develop and introduce radical changes in the technology of construction and repair work. Due to the introduction of the technology of preparation of asphalt mixtures based on foamed bitumen is an important task for us. Unfortunately, today in Ukraine there are no normative documents that would regulate the implementation of works based on this technology which makes it impossible to use it and limits optimization and development of the road industry in Ukraine. Purpose. The purpose of the study is reserch of expendiency of using the asphalt mixtures based on foamed bitumen in Ukraine. Materials and methods. Experimental tests of traditional hot-mixes of asphalt concrete mixes with and without addition of reclaimed asphalt concrete with different contents of both source and foamed bitumen have been carried out. Results. The expediency of using asphalt mixtures based on foamed bitumen has been established. The result is the developed recommendations on the processing parameters of preparation, transportation, laying and compaction of these mixtures. Conclusions. The studies showed that physical and mechanical parameters of both asphalt based on original bitumen and foamed bitumen correspond the requirements of the current normative documents.The advantages of their using are noted: reduction of the temperature of preparation and compaction of the mixture, saving of optimum content of bitumen and energy resources. The obtained results indicate the expediency of application of technology of bitumen foaming during the preparation of asphalt concrete mixtures in Ukraine.
