Abstract
The purpose of this research is to study the linguistic structure in the poem of the Jordanian poet Habib al-Zuyoudi, "Salma" in accordance with the criterion of cohesion of the text, and in accordance with the structure where interaction between the poet and the receiver happens. The text is divided into parts to enable the studying of the mechanisms and means of cohesion including grammatical means (e.g., reference, substitution, ellipsis, and conjunctions) and lexical means (e.g., repetition and collocation). It has been found that the text concerned represents the peak of the poet's maturity and creativity. It has achieved formal cohesion in all mechanisms of grammar, lexicon, and meaning.
