Abstract

The article offers a description of the process of formation of research competence in students of higher education of the second (master’s) degree. On the basis of the State standard for the specialty 162 Biotechnology and Bioengineering and taking into account the content of the Educational and professional programs pharmaceutical biotechnology, ecological biotechnology and bioenergy, the significance of the research component in the structure of the professional competence of the Master of Biotechnology was clarified. The following feature was revealed: the research component of the entire competence system of the master’s degree of biotechnology and bioengineering it is essential for the formation of integral, general and special competencesIt is important that general theoretical scientific methods, as well as methods and technologies characteristic of biotechnological production, are used for their formation. The substantive significance of the educational discipline ″Methodology of scientific research and the foundations of intellectual property in the field of biotechnology and bioengineering″ the formation of research competence of those obtaining a master’s degree in biotechnology and bioengineering has been revealed. The meaningful algorithm of its formation has been specified. The most significant in this regard is knowledge about intellectual property, its legal protection: possession of the normative state and international base for carrying out scientific research in this field, the ability to patent inventions ets. The formation of research competence among undergraduates in biotechnology and bioengineering indetermined by the fact that the value of research competence lies in the actualization of the creative potential of an individual and the formations of his self-development.
