Abstract

The study aims to reveal specificity of the English terms translation in the professionally oriented text. Originality of the paper involves identifying peculiarities of one-component and multicomponent terms functioning in the English language. The following conclusions are justified. Prevalence of multicomponent terms indicates insufficient development of a terminological system. Contrary to one-component terms, multicomponent terms often have no direct equivalents in the Russian language, this leads to relative equivalence of translation. Transformation techniques help to broaden a term semantic field in the target language.
