Abstract

Objective : This study aims to analyze the cases of integrated outdoor playgrounds in domestic communities in order to develop future societal response strategies based on the findings. Methods : This study conducted a survey on seven integrated outdoor playgrounds in domestic communities. The scope of the survey included general characteristics of integrated playgrounds, flooring materials, and playground conditions. Additionally, the analysis was conducted to determine whether the design applied an integrated perspective based on physical, sensory-cognitive, and social classifications. Results : The Integrated playgrounds in domestic communities didn’t consider the physical characteristics and developmental characteristics throughout the lifespan of physically vulnerable groups in terms of flooring materials and playground equipment. In particular, the playgrounds for the elderly lacked equipment for sensory experiences. Conclusion : It’s necessary to derive inclusive playgrounds that provide opportunities for lifeling health improvement and relaxation.
