Abstract

The purpose of present study was to analyze the growth performances and water quality of far eastern catfish, Silurus asotus, between biofloc technology (BFT) and continuous replacement system (CRS). For this study, the BFT based water was only made feed and carbon sources without fish for 45 days. After 30 days of rearing between BFT and CRS experiment conditions, all of the growth performances of S. asotus were more effective in BFT than in CRS: survival rate (98.0±1.00% vs. 92.4±1.20%), weight gain (12.8±2.8g vs. 9.7±2.9g), weight gain rate (109.2±4.1% vs. 82.1±3.2%), specific growth rate (2.38±0.6%/d vs. 1.93±0.2%/d), and feed coefficient rate (1.19±0.5 vs. 1.45±0.7).
