Abstract

Objectives: To explore thesis topic and research method of articles published in the last 25 years in Journal of Korean Academy of Addiction Psychiatry. Methods: This study included 67 review articles and 273 original articles published in Journal of Korean Academy of Addiction Psychiatry from 1997 to 2021. Alterations in topic and method of published articles every five years were analyzed. Results: Among review and original articles, the most frequent topic was associated with ‘alcohol use’. The frequency of articles related to ‘internet/smartphone use’ has been increasing since 2002. Among 273 original articles, 55 (20.1%) included general population as subjects. Original articles on adolescents had higher frequency of those about ‘internet/smartphone use’. The most frequent scale in articles about ‘alcohol use’ was ‘the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT)’ in both studies including patients and general population. Conclusion: Among review and original articles published in the last 25 years from 1997 to 2021, the most frequent thesis topic was associated with ‘alcohol use’ in Journal of Korean Academy of Addiction Psychiatry. Articles related to ‘internet/smartphone use’ have been increasing since 2002. The suggestion of published articles can contribute to the development of diagnostic process and clinical approaches.
