Abstract

The aim of the presented systematic review is to identify the main topical issues in the study of the bard (amateur) song of the 1950s-80s as a mass cultural phenomenon. The scientific novelty of the article lies in the fact that for the first time it presents a review and systematization of the works by the Soviet and Russian philologists, culturologists and art critics who studied the bard song using a systematic approach. The results of the analysis are the discovered prospects for studying the genesis of the bard song, its social group and the so-called evolution. The need for the formation of a new methodology for the systematic study of the bard song was also identified.
