Abstract
Recently on-line secondary materials became popularized and ILL system has been improved, but these change have resulted in a rapid increase in the copy service work in many libraries in Japan. To improve library service and reduce copy service work, I have examined Ariel, the document delivery system over the Internet from the research libraries in Japan. First, I examined the functions of Ariel, and found some problems in setting up the system and connecting to relating to the network. I compared the speed of the current delivery system and Ariel and compared the quantity of work with the current system and Ariel. Finally, I assessed the problems that would be encountered if we used Ariel in Japan, and what would happen in the future.
