Abstract

The phenomenon of mediatization of modern domestic library education is comprehended. The tasks of mediatization are defined, the reasons that caused it are named. In the article meditation is analyzed as a reorientation of activities in line with the trends of the media industry and the information relaying technology at the level of library practice and library education. The media format of library activity is an indicator of its modernity, relevance, and openness to innovation. The directions of mediatization of education (modernization, communication, professionalization, gamification) are shown, digital communication tools (websites, blogs, social networks, instant messengers, video hosting, etc.) are characterized, which are the object of study in media education and provide the accumulation and broadcast of educational content in the media environment. Mediatization correlates with the digitalization of the educational process. The media competencies fixed by the professional standard for library and information activities (2022) are considered. The experience of their formation at the Mordovian University is reflected.
