Abstract
This article examines the main trends in the development of library and information services in the rapidly developing XXI century. Changes are noted in the ways of creating, distributing, organizing and using information technologies and the use of digital repositories is expanding, which significantly reduces paper consumption. Means are created by which the reader’s request is quickly satisfied in this, the automation of the reader’s service plays a significant role. And also the article provides methodological advice for attracting the reader to the library. It is indicated that the use of the repository requires special knowledge, skills and skill. It is necessary to thoroughly develop processes for processing and preserving electronic resources, today both traditional and modern methods of serving in the library are used.
