Abstract

This study tried to understand the concept of Personal Knowledge more accurately by reviewing the semantic elements of Personal Knowledge. Polanyi presents various semantic elements such as explicit knowledge, tacit knowledge, focal awareness, and subsidiary awareness to explain Personal Knowledge. Understanding these semantic elements is a prerequisite for correctly grasping the concept of Personal Knowledge. Previous studies have identified these semantic elements from a somewhat special perspective. Above all, they tend to understand explicit knowledge and tacit knowledge as two knowledge that cannot exist separately and separately, and understand personal knowledge based on that perspective. However, this perspective raises serious problems in that it cannot fully explain the human perception presented by Polanyi and makes him explain what he calls human existence differently than Polanyi intended. Defining explicit knowledge and tacit knowledge as two knowledge that can exist separately helps solve these problems and contributes to a more accurate understanding of the concept of Polanyi's Personal Knowledge.
