Abstract
The battle took place on 16th September, 1913, during the Italian forces' attempt to take control of the Green Mountain, where an Italian force exited the city of Almarj to the town of Taknees. During its march, they were ambushed by Al-Mujahideen forces at the western entrance of Taknees and clashed with the tribe of Alabeed, which is supported by many neighboring tribes. Despite the victory of Al-Mujahideen at the beginning of the battle, they withdrew after the Italian forces surrounded them. The importance of this battle lies in the following:- 1is one of the first battles fought by Libyans without any assistance after the departure of the Ottoman empire from Libya.- 2This battle witnessed the killing of Italian commander Torrelli whose carries a high military rank.,.. for importance of the this commander a school and a camp in the city of Benghazi called by his name
