Abstract
The article overviews the activities of the famous Siberian archaeologist A.I. Martynov, who has been working in Kemerovo Region for 68 years. He headed the Regional Museum of Local History, explored archaeological sites of South Siberia, took part in the museumification of the archaeological rock art site “Tomskaya Pisanitsa”, and created a scientific archaeological school at Kemerovo State University. In the university, Professor A.I. Martynov established the Department of Archaeology, which he headed for 23 years. He still works at the Department of Museum Affairs at Kemerovo State Institute of Culture and at the Museum-Reserve “Tomskaya Pisanitsa”. The article also discusses the researcher’s personality traits, which enabled him to achieve outstanding results in the organization of archaeological science in the Kemerovo Region.
