Abstract
Publication for the 75th birth anniversary of the Crimean historian and specialist in local history Vladimir Nikolaevich Gurkovich. The scientist’s professional activity for many years has been devoted to the study of the Crimean peninsula past. He raised important issues related to the protection of monuments of history and culture of Crimea, including monuments related to the events of the Great Patriotic War. A significant place in the historian’s research is occupied by memorial objects dedicated to the heroic past. His works were of great importance in carrying out repair and restoration work at memorial sites. The results of his research are reflected in numerous scientific and popular science publications. V. N. Gurkovich plays a considerable role in popularizing the cultural heritage of the Crimean peninsula. For his activities related to the study, protection, restoration and popularization of historical and cultural monuments, the local historian was awarded with awards and titles.
