Abstract
Studying of spiritual potential of national culture is important for preservation and development of the Russian people in the conditions of the modern world. It helps to strengthen national identity, to keep and transfer traditions of the past to new generations and to resist today to loss of cultural values. Article acquaints the reader with the current state of national culture in the region, organizational and creative and design activity of BUKOO «The Oryol regional center of folk art» is presented. Successful cooperation of the Oryol Regional Center of folk art with departments of culture of municipal districts of area and a number of educational institutions and also regularly held events and festivals directed to promoting of ethnographic material and drawing attention to national traditions and culture allows not only to keep heritage of ancestors, but also to enrich the modern culture of the Oryol region.
