Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the difference between the current possession and future necessity of self-leadership competency for successful start-ups and to derive self-leadership competency that should be developed first when developing self-leadership courses.
 The results of the study are as follows. First, as a result of analyzing the importance and necessity of self-leadership competency, both the importance and necessity of competency were high, and differences depending on gender, start-up period, and start-up experience were analyzed. Women showed the need for relatively higher self-leadership competency than men, and new start-ups showed the need for relatively higher self-leadership competency than re-start-ups. Early start-ups showed relatively higher self-leadership competency than start-ups. Second, as a result of analyzing difficulties at startup, senior entrepreneur are found to have difficulties in terms of responding to changing external environments and trends. Third, as a result of analyzing the self-leadership competency of senior entrepreneur, high demands for “self-management” were analyzed.
 The results of this study are expected to be used as basic data when developing self-leadership competency development programs for senior entrepreneur.
