Abstract

The article presents the features of a comparative review of trends in changes in the social structure and employment system in cross-border societies of Mongolia and the Republic of Buryatia as a subject of the Russian Federation. The author shows the role of Buryatia as the eastern gate of the country in promoting Russia's interests in the East Asian direction. On the base of statistical data and sociological research the paper demonstrates the structure of employment, evaluative views of the population regarding stratification, income, trends in further changes in the employment system in the cross-border societies of Buryatia and Mongolia. Both societies are characterized by high levels of urbanization and migration movements of the population due to the low level of socio-economic development of the territories, low wages, and lack of financial and material resources.
